Race Reports For The 2003 Season.
Round 9
Mallory Park, Sunday August 17th, 15 Laps

Matthew Slinn's luck returns.

Matthew Slinn returned to race-winning form in round nine of the MG XPOWER Clubmans Cup at Mallory Park on Sunday (17 August). The result has given the Mallock Mk30 EBX racer an extended lead in the championship that enjoys support from Powertrain Ltd and Ricardo Plc.
Slinn put a torrid weekend at Croix-en-Ternois firmly behind him by winning by a little under two seconds from Mike Evans in his Mallock Mk20. With one of his main championship rivals Barry Webb on holiday, it was an important result for Slinn.
With pole position, a race win and fastest lap it was a perfect day for Slinn who was able to control the race from the front for a lights-to-flag victory.
Evans and Mike Luck (Dart S16) were the nearest challengers to the flying Slinn, and completed the podium party, but were just not able to offer a real challenge to the leader.
A fine battle raged for fourth as Adrian Lester, Peter Richings and James Lindley raced hard for much of the race. However, with a lap and a half to go, Richings hit fuel pump problems and dropped to tenth as the car spluttered home. That made sure of fourth for Lester and another excellent result for the latest Mallock Mk35K.
Other notable performances came from Russell Munns who claimed his best result so far in MG Clubmans with sixth and from Ian Mitchell, who battled through to eighth having started down in 18th in his IM Mk3. That drive earned him the www.racecarsdirect.com driver of the day award.
